- Do use random 4-6 digit pins.
- Change your code every few months.
Power Failure?
“What if the power goes out?”
- Keyless locks are battery powered.
- They work even if your house has no electricity.
- (WiFi features may pause, but the lock works).

Frequently Asked Questions
Keypad vs Bluetooth vs WiFi?
**Keypad:** Simple code entry. Offline. **Bluetooth:** Unlock with phone near door. **WiFi:** Unlock from anywhere + alerts.
Are they secure?
Yes. The biggest risk is a weak code (like 1234). The locks themselves are Grade 2 or 1 residential security.
Batteries die?
You get warnings weeks ahead. If they die, use a 9V battery jump (on some models) or the mechanical backup key.
Can I manage rental guests?
Ideally use a WiFi model (Schlage Encode or Yale Access) to set start/end dates for codes remotely.
Biometric?
Fingerprint locks are great but cost more. We recommend models that *also* have a keypad just in case.
